Sergeant - Our Little Tink
Born: May 6th 1996

Sarge was purchased at the Fraser Valley Auction on April 18th,2004. It
was love at first sight and I knew I had to bring him home. He was run
through the sale with a smaller TB mare but since they were not halter
broke and had no story on them. No bids were taken and they went straight
for meat. After an hour of convincing; with the back up of almost everyone
at the auction at this point, we managed to purchase him before he was
loaded on the truck to go to the feedlot.
We later found out his story....
He was bred to be a race horse but since he was so big so young they
didn't even bother putting him into training, knowing he would not hold up.
He lived his first 8 years in a pig barn with his brother. When his brother fell
in a feed trough in the barn, Sarge was alone. He was sent to the auction,
skinny, matted and in need of a lot of TLC. You could barley get a halter on
him and he did not know how to lead when we tried to take him out to the
trailer to bring him home. It took a little while but he was very willing and did
not cause a fuss.
He was brought home , halter broke and then started under saddle. He took
to everything so easily and tried so hard. By the end of summer you could
do anything on him. We rode him through the trails, went to english
/western shows, did cross country, took him to over night camping trips,
used him to teach a 6 year old how to ride, went to rodeos and  even a few
drill team practices.
His 2nd trail ride [2 weeks after being started under saddle], his bridle
ended up breaking. I rode him home with a rein around his neck, across the
cross country field, across 16th ave and down the side roads back home
with out him batting an eye.
He was and is the only horse I will jump. We did up to 4', bridleless. He
never even thought of refusing a jump.
In October 2004, he was sold to a lady in Abbotsford. There he stood for 5
years doing hunters/jumpers and trails. He had the good life and was
babied but when his owners goals turned towards breeding, he was up for
sale again. I missed him everyday he was gone and even though barley
anyone at the barn got to meet him, they all felt like they knew him after
how much I talked about him. After going to visit him and almost having a
mental breakdown when I realized how much I really missed him, we bought
him back.
He came home April 30th, 2009 and is home to stay. He had never been at
this farm [we sold him before we moved here] but once he was reunited with
Czar, Buck, Durango and Leah, he was right at home again.
He will never have to worry about finding a home again, like my other 3
boys, he has a forever home here full of trail riding, leisurely strolls around
the farm and neighbourhood and maybe to occasional schooling show just
for fun.
Theres always those few horses in your life that mean that much to you and
sometimes you don't realize it until they are gone. I was just lucky enough to
have a second chance.
Homecoming...
