| This mare is locate din Duncan on Vancouver Island. NOT at Hayburner Haven. Please email dkpirie@shaw.ca for more information. Here is what her owner has to say about her: 1991- CWB[ Dutch] Mare . She was shown succesfully as a eventer and show jumper, but is now retired from the show ring. We haven't ridden her in 2 years, and she and her pasture mate (a 28 year Belgian/TB) are enjoying the easy life. She still has a lot to offer, she is a beautiful mover and is excellent with other horses, UTD all vaccinations/dewormed/farrier. She has had 1 foal in the past (before I owned her) I planned on breeding her for the last 2 years, but I don't feel like I have enough time to raise a foal. I have marketed her as a broodmare, but with todays' market i've had little to no interest (even with the price tag of $1500!) Theoretically, I'd love for her to go to an experienced breeding home. This may be wishful thinking, but she is very well bred , athletic and gorgeous and would pass that along nicely. She's a 1991 model, chestnut, full blaze etc. 16.1 hands, she's from Formaat (deceased) and was bred at Rafter 5 ranch in the interior. She was bought by a woman in Saanich, who owned her for 10 years doing mainly dressage. She leased her out to a friend who bred her and then I bought her. We bought her on the basis to breed her, but she turn out to be such an incredible jumper that we ended up showing her (up to 4'3" jumpers) for the next 5 years. Due to her Dutch WB background, she is very forward and sensitive so therefore not for an inexperienced or nervous rider. She isn't suitable for trail riding, that said, with enough time and patience (and a trail buddy!) she might prove me wrong. She is an easy keeper (for a WB) but needs to be blanketed etc. Basically, I want her to go to someone who will look after her well and who's experienced around high strung horses. She doesn't bite, kick, crib, weave. She can be a little snotty going into a trailer, but over the years this has lessened. She doesn't tie or cross tie. (pulls back)..except in her stall, which is where I groom her. We're not in dire straights and can well afford her, but I would just like to see her in a home that can spend more time and possibly breed a foal from her. I'm not really looking for any money, just a really good home. |
